The Shenton Safaris Mwamba Bush Camp in South Luangwa, Zambia, has reopened this season after significant refurbishments. For the past 24 years, Mwamba Bush Camp has been offering extraordinary, authentic and sustainable safari experiences. The recent upgrades mark an exciting new chapter for the camp.
Key improvements include:
Enhanced chalets
The chalets have been upgraded with woven bamboo exteriors and interiors lined with matting and screens for protection from insects and other animals. The rooms are also more spacious and feature private verandas with stunning views of the surrounding wilderness.
Relocated Gardenia chalet
The Gardenia chalet has been relocated but, surrounded by gardenia plants, retains its name and charm. The area has been thoughtfully redesigned to integrate seamlessly with the natural environment.
Updated outside bathrooms
The outside bathrooms have received light updates, including solid paths, double basins with copper tapware, live-edge mirrors and showers set among the trees offering a unique back-to-nature experience.
New deck
A new deck has been added, providing a relaxing space with breathtaking views of the Mwamba River, which is ideal for wildlife sightings with elephants and other plains game frequently grazing nearby. It will also serve as the new breakfast deck. Dinners will continue to be served under the stars next to the bar nestled within the iconic ebony tree adorned with a trailing python vine and chandeliers.
The camp’s renowned Last Waterhole Hide remains in its prime location offering some of the best wildlife sightings in the area.
With these enhancements, Mwamba Bush Camp is set to continue providing guests with memorable and intimate safari experiences in the heart of South Luangwa.
