Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) has promoted Xolile Maswanganyi to Manager: Tourism Sector Support. Maswanganyi’s promotion follows her contribution as Coordinator in the same department where she played a role in advancing JTC’s mission of fostering sustainable tourism development and supporting local tourism businesses.
Her dedication and strategic insights have been key in driving projects that align with Johannesburg’s tourism growth objectives.
With over 20 years of experience in the tourism sector, Maswanganyi brings knowledge in project management, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning to her role. During her tenure at JTC, she successfully led a range of initiatives, most notably the Tourism Ambassadors Programme, which has equipped more than 400 youth in Johannesburg with skills and opportunities in the tourism sector.
In her new role, Maswanganyi will lead JTC’s efforts to support tourism small, medium and micro enterprises with a focus on driving sector growth, fostering innovation and strengthening partnerships with public and private-sector stakeholders. Her vision for the sector includes expanding opportunities for local entrepreneurs and ensuring Johannesburg remains at the forefront of tourism development in Africa.
Maswanganyi’s academic background further supports her expertise. She holds a BCom in marketing management from the University of South Africa, tourism diploma and additional certifications in leadership and customer relationship management.
