Skywise's plan to launch domestic flights between Cape Town and Johannesburg has suffered a setback as the Department of Transport has cancelled its Air Service Licence.
Andries Ntjane, Deputy Director: Licensing & Permits, told Tourism Update that the licence was only valid for a year and that Skywise had failed to begin operating before it expired. He said Skywise did apply for an extension but the Air Services Licensing Council declined to extend the licence.
Skywise has yet to get off the ground as it was still in the process of obtaining an Air Operator Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority.
