Zambia will host its inaugural Kafue Wild Trail Run in support of its wildlife rangers in the Kafue National Park on September 16.
The 10km or 21km races have opened for the first time after informal trials in 2021 and 2022, with only 250 places available to the public.
Participants will be running with (and for) wildlife rangers in a conservation cause to protect and support the work efforts of wildlife rangers in Zambia.
Greater Kafue Landscape Ltd, a joint project of the African Parks Network and the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife, co-ordinates the Kafue Wild Trail Run.
Located in the centre of western Zambia, Kafue is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s national parks, covering 22 400sqkm.
The park is home to 21 species of antelope and 515 species of bird, with a mix of woodland, grasslands and aquatic habitats that support diverse species, including big cats.
