Zimbabwe’s tourism industry has approached Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa to intervene to reduce the number of police roadblocks on the country’s highways, which are stifling the free movement of local and foreign tourists, News Day reports.
George Manyumwa, Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) President, is quoted in the report saying his organisation was engaging with the relevant stakeholders to have the number of roadblocks reduced.
Manyumwa also said HAZ was lobbying for a special dispensation for the hospitality and tourism industry to have a reduction of VAT from the current 15% to 5%.
