The Africa Showcase will launch in South Africa in July, while plans are under way for an Africa Showcase in East Africa next year, show hosts, On Show Solutions, have announced.

On Show specialises in taking African products directly to the source, matching them up with specialist operators and agents in key markets. After establishing successful roadshows across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, the Africa Showcase will now connect African tourism products to the outbound South African market.

The roadshow in South Africa is designed to serve tourism products from Southern Africa, East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands as well as South African-based products wanting to attract the domestic market. The anticipated profile of the buyers includes corporates, retail, business and leisure agents.

For 2017, On Show Solutions has set its sights on East Africa to host trade events in Kenya and Tanzania. The focus will be on promoting African products to the outbound East African market, encouraging intra-African travel. “Much of the travel in Africa is for business purpose, so we anticipate a good combination of business and leisure tourism for the East Africa roadshow,” says Amanda Margison, co-owner of On Show Solutions. With their active involvement in the business events sector over the past decade, this is seen as a natural path for the directors of On Show Solutions to follow.

The Africa Showcase in East Africa is set to feature the African edition of Digital Tourism Think Tank, in collaboration with Man & Machine. “African DMOs need to fast track their marketing and advertising efforts to keep up with international tourists’ ever-increasing demands and expectations from an African business and leisure destination,” says William Price, co-Founder of Man & Machine.
