A Spirit Airlines flight was brought to an unexpected stop shortly after landing in Orlando recently because an alligator had decided to cross the taxiway, according to Travel Pulse.

The pilot spotted the reptile while positioning the plane to taxi back to the gate. The alligator, meanwhile, was making its lazy way from one lake to the other, apparently unware that it had stunned a plane full of people.

WSVN 7 News (@wsvn) tweeted a video of the incident accredited to a passenger named Anthony Velardi.

“I am a native Floridian and even this shocked me to see that an alligator was on the runway preventing us from getting to the gate,” Velardi said. “It waddled into the pond like it was no big deal. Looks like someone had TSA PreCheck.”
