Nqobizita Mangaliso Ndlovu has been appointed Zimbabwe’s new Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Ndlovu had been appointed Acting Minister of Environment Tourism and Hospitality Industry pending the finalisation of the then Minister Prisca Mupfumira’s court processes. Mupfumira was later dismissed on a litany of alleged corruption charges.
Wenhau Safaris MD, Wengai Nhau, says it was important for the ministry to have a substantive minister who could make decisions. “He now has insight of how the ministry operates and the tourism industry in general. The few times I have interacted with him, he has been a good listener, which is good for the tourism industry.”
Ndlovu studied Development Finance at University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, Business and Finance at Midlands State University and Finance at National University of Sciences and Technology. He was previously Minister of Industry and Commerce.
“I am sure Ndlovu is excited with his appointment and will hit the ground running, execute and acquit himself well in the tourism industry, which has long been touted as low-hanging fruit, toward the sustainable development of our beautiful country, Zimbabwe,” commented a Nyanga-based hotelier who declined to be named.
