While the outlook for the next 12 months was positive for Sense of Africa, there were factors affecting growth, said Suzanne Benadie, Sales Director, South Africa, in response to a Tourism Update article.
“I would say more like a 50% return to 2019 numbers. Whilst the outlook is positive, we are also facing a lot of macro-environment factors such as reduced global flights from many of our source markets in Europe in particular, and shortages of all the associated staff in baggage handling and flight crews.
Some markets are showing good signs of recovery for the latter half of 2022, and we have upstaffed accordingly, particularly groups from the USA, and FIT clients from Switzerland and the Benelux.
The Italian market has bounced back very fast with short lead times for last-minute travel in July, August and September.”
