As part of a multimillion-rand expansion for the Sun International group, the Grand Hotel at the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Cape Town will be expanded to offer a greater number of rooms.
Sun International Group CEO, Anthony Leeming, said work had begun to increase the capacity from 39 rooms to 103 rooms
“The current 39-room hotel runs at a 99% occupancy so this is a long-overdue project,” said Leeming, noting that it was important for hotel groups to continuously invest and develop to meet the changing needs of the hospitality environment.
“Otherwise, we stay stagnant and don’t see growth.”
Tourism Update understands the expansion will be completed in the second half of 2023.
GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World offers a number of child-friendly activities, including The Magic Company arcade games, ten-pin bowling and The Ice Station, the only ice rink in Cape Town.
GrandWest Casino is open seven days a week and offers a variety of slot machines and gaming tables.
The complex is also home to a number of premium conferencing facilities and venues.
