The Time Out Market is a concept that showcases a city’s best food and drink experiences under one roof, and in 2023, the V&A Waterfront will welcome this major international tourism drawcard to its precinct.
The origins of the first Time Out Market date back to 2014 when the first experience was offered in a market hall in Lisbon, Portugal, and rapidly became a global tourism attraction, with over 3.9m visitors in 2018.
It has now expanded to other countries, with Cape Town to host the first edition on the African continent.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis congratulated the V&A Waterfront for securing the global dining experience and added that it was testament to the appeal of Cape Town as a place to bring premier initiatives, which are not only enjoyable for all foodies but also drive critical growth for the economy through job creation.
