SAA has announced that its flights from Johannesburg to Gqeberha (PLZ), which should have commenced on December 12, have been deferred to 2023.

The airline says the delay of the restart of this route is due to the regulatory approval process having taken much longer than anticipated.

The airline already relaunched its Johannesburg-Windhoek route on December 8 and on December 14 will go ahead and relaunch the Johannesburg-Victoria Falls route.

SAA recently increased frequencies and seat capacity on Mauritius, Harare, and Cape Town.

SAA Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, said in a press release that the restart of the Gqeberha route remained a critical part of SAA’s network growth plan and the airline would continue to work to achieve this.
