The Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture Directorate of Nelson Mandela Bay is inviting tourism SMMEs (tourist guides, tour operators and hospitality industries) working in the metro to apply and participate at World Travel Market and Africa’s Travel Indaba trade shows scheduled to take place from April 10-12 and May 13-16 respectively to showcase their products and offerings.
Africa’s Travel Indaba is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and one of the top-three must-visit events of its kind on the global calendar. It showcases the widest variety of southern Africa’s best tourism products and attracts international buyers and media from across the world.
The World Travel Market brings the world to you and promotes Africa to the world. It delivers the leading global events for the travel industry, and is Africa’s leading and only business-to-business exhibition for both the inbound and outbound African travel and tourism markets.
A limited space for eligible and qualifying tourism enterprises to participate at the trade shows has been secured.
SMME development is one of the key strategic priorities for the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM), with the following objectives:
- To provide financial and non-financial support.
- To facilitate access to markets and trade.
- And to encourage the participation of previously disadvantaged individuals through tourism enterprise development.

The selection committee will be looking for the following when making their selections:
- Must be a South African.
- Must be based in Nelson Mandela Bay.
- Must be a legally registered business.
- Must be an SMME.
- Must have a complete company profile.
- Must be willing to submit reports when/where necessary.
- BEE-verified company = 51% black-owned.
- Must be willing to sign legally binding agreement with NMBM.
- Business must operate on social media platforms.
- A one- to two-page motivation letter.
