Uganda Airlines will launch non-stop flights between Entebbe International Airport and London Gatwick, marking the carrier’s first direct service to Europe. The new route, set to commence on May 18, will operate four times weekly.
The announcement comes nearly a decade after the last direct air link between Entebbe and the UK.
“Uganda and the UK share deep historical, cultural and economic ties, and this new route will provide unmatched convenience for travellers,” said Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines.
Uganda Airlines will operate flights on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays using the Airbus A330-800neo.
The flight schedule is designed to allow connections via Entebbe to key destinations across Africa including Nairobi, Lagos, Johannesburg, Dar es Salaam and the upcoming Accra route.
The UK remains a key source market for Ugandan tourism with visitors drawn to the country’s diverse wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage. This direct connection is expected to boost tourism numbers while supporting economic engagement between the two nations.
