Flamingo Bay Water Lodge in Inhambane, Mozambique, has closed to overnight guests after a fire broke out at the lodge on Saturday, October 3. Activities, including catamaran trips, dhow trips, deep-sea fishing and quad bike trips, will continue to operate as normal and the restaurant, bar, spa and conference facilities are open to the public.
Owner, John Law, said the fire had burned down the 20 chalets but there were no injuries and most of the guests’ belongings had been retrieved.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this point but an investigation is under way.
“There [are] plans to rebuild the lodge, which will start as soon as all formalities are met, including insurance assessment,” said Law.
