Air India has relaunched commercial operations from Mumbai to Nairobi after 10 years of absence from Kenya.
The airline will offer four direct flights a week between Mumbai and Nairobi, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight departs Mumbai at 06h25, arriving Nairobi at 10h00. The return flight departs Nairobi on the same day at 12h00, arriving in Mumbai at 20h40.
“The return of Air India is a big plus for Kenya’s economy as well as the tourism industry,” said Dr Betty Radier, CEO of the Kenya Tourism Board. She said it would promote tourism and trade and improve relationships and create opportunities between the two countries as Kenya had a large Indian community.
“India is one of Kenya’s top tourist source markets and arrivals from India in 2018 grew by 51.9% to reach 125 032.” The return of Air India has added to the connectivity of other airlines flying into Kenya, thus further enhancing accessibility to the country, she said. “Kenya is confident of sustained tourist arrivals from India following this arrival.”
