Air Malawi is set to resume its local, regional and international services after an agreement was reached with Ethiopian Airlines that will see it hold a 49% stake in Air Malawi. It has not yet been confirmed when the airline will resume services.
Jimmy Lipunga, chief executive of the Public Private Partnership Commission, said Ethiopian Airlines had jointly agreed with the Malawi government to change the airline’s name to Malawian Airlines Limited. He said, of the remaining 51% stake in the airline, 31% would be given out to interested Malawians to be part of the company.
