Air Zimbabwe has announced plans to start flying between Harare and Gaborone, among other planned destinations.
Runesu Kwaramba, Manager: Marketing and Planning, said: “We are working on resuming Lusaka, Lubumbashi, Windhoek and Gaborone.”
Air Zimbabwe currently has daily flights from Harare to Johannesburg, and three flights a week to Dar es Salaam.
Zimbabwe’s local media reported that Air Zimbabwe was urgently pleading with the new government to fund its revival with an estimated US$190m. The funds will be used to secure new fleets for both domestic and short regional routes.
In 2016, Air Botswana indefinitely ceased operating flights between Gaborone and Harare, as well as Lusaka. At that time it was the only airline linking Gaborone and Harare.
