Luxury safari travel company Go2Africa has introduced a honeymoon package with a private investigator to tailor every aspect of the trip. Known as “The Designer Honeymoon”, this experience was crafted with insights from a former FBI agent hired to discreetly observe couples’ preferences and routines for a week prior to their honeymoons. This information informs a bespoke itinerary that reflects their interests – from specific meals to personal keepsakes.
The personalised honeymoon itinerary spans some of Africa’s most iconic destinations including the Seychelles, South Africa and Tanzania. Each location promises intimate, luxury accommodations and experiences tailored to the couple’s unique preferences, offering a meticulously planned journey designed to alleviate the usual stress associated with honeymoon planning.
Guests who opt for this experience sign an agreement for a discreet observation period when the investigator interviews friends and family, and reviews the couple's social media profiles, to uncover details of their preferences. According to Go2Africa, all personal data is securely erased after the honeymoon and only memories are preserved.
Emma Hill, African Safari Expert at Go2Africa, says many couples find honeymoon planning overwhelming due to the extensive range of choices. “When people are booking honeymoons, they can often find it an incredibly stressful experience largely because of the choice available to them. There are too many options and they are not sure which direction to take.”
Highlighting the advantages of a bespoke honeymoon over standard packages, particularly allowing couples to adjust budgets strategically, she adds: “It’s important to opt for a bespoke honeymoon rather than a packaged deal as you can play with the budget to get the best value. They provide some affordable elements so you can splash out at the end to make the trip truly special!”
She says there is a shift towards customised travel with clients increasingly seeking unique, immersive experiences. “We’re definitely seeing that tailor-made travel is becoming more sought-after. As agents, we are educating travellers and steering them away from crowded, congested experiences but exposing them to really special areas where they can get closer to game sightings, away from the crowds, and truly immerse themselves in nature.”
