The Botswana Tourism Organisation is looking to develop further products to diversity its offering, says Marketing Manager, Jillian Blackbeard. These include adventure, culture and heritage tourism.
However, Blackbeard told Tourism Update that the destination would maintain its tourism strategy of low-volume, high-value product offering in areas of pristine wildlife and ecological fragility such as the Okavango Delta.
“It is in areas outside these protected areas, which have not always been seen as traditional tourism destinations, that BTO is looking to develop further. This would include the Dams, projects such as Tsabong Camel Park and Goo-Moremi, and areas where we have worked to host events in partnership with the local trusts to develop tourism, such as Lekhubu (Race For Rhinos), Nata Bird Sanctuary (Makgadikgadi Epic) and Gchwihaba and Khawa,” said Blackbeard.
Tourism Update is increasing its coverage of destinations outside South Africa. Do you have news in Botswana? Send your news to editor@tourismupdate.co.za.
