Botswana Police Services (BPS) has engaged leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, Huawei, to install surveillance cameras in major cities to help in the fight against crime and improve safety and security for both locals and tourists.
The cameras are currently being installed in Gaborone, followed by Francistown.
Near Bagali, Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, said the cameras would expose criminal activities in strategic locations, and police stations in those areas would be notified of such activities.
The Commissioner of Police, Keabetswe Makgophe said BPS intended to roll out the project to other parts of the country in future if it proves sustainable and effective.
Tourists can start looking forward to crime-free streets and improved security.
