The R21 and R24 leading to OR Tambo International Airport (Ortia) were blocked early this morning in both directions due to a metered taxi and truck driver protest. Both routes have since reopened but commuters should still expect major delays.

According to Leigh Gunkel-Keuler, spokesperson, OR Tambo International Airport, airport management was informed that it is the specific intention of the protesting drivers to block access to OR Tambo International Airport. “Passengers and travellers to the airport need to proceed with caution as they make their way to the airport as we are not yet able to gauge the impact this will have on access to the airport this morning.” says Gunkel-Keuler.
