City Sightseeing South Africa will be suspending its Hop-On Hop-Off bus services from March23 until April 14, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This closure will take place in the Cape Town, Johannesburg and Hermanus Hop-on Hop-off operations.
Johannesburg will also be suspending its Soweto tour and the Johannesburg and Hermanus ticket offices will be closed during this time.
The Cape Town ticket offices in the Waterfront and at 81 Long Street will remain open to assist visitors where needed.
Chairman of City Sightseeing, Claus Tworeck, explained in a media statement that the company is taking guidance from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Department of Health.
“We are continually sanitising all buses, stores and our staff have been fully informed with relevant information and guided on personal hygiene and preventative measures,” said Tworeck.
“For nearly 20 years, we have been guided by our values, which are at the heart of our business. These values will guide us now as we face the uncertainty and impact brought about by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).”
