Ugandan travel show, Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), is set to take place this month at the Sheraton Kampala Gardens in Kampala from February 23-25.
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is the organiser of the annual event, whose theme this year is ‘Rediscover the Pearl’. Travel and tourism industry players from Uganda and other African countries including Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda have an opportunity to showcase their products to hosted buyers from various parts of the world.
Uganda’s tourism products and services in the hospitality industry will be on display during the Expo, giving international visitors a chance to explore the country’s offering.
At the launch of the event, Ugandan Tourism and Wildlife Minister, Professor Ephraim Kamuntu, said: “Our vision is to work with tourism partners, to help POATE grow, for the event to become one of the most effective tourism networking platforms in the East African region.
“Ugandans are encouraged to visit the Expo and see for themselves the available travel offers, especially when we are planning for the Easter break.”
UTB CEO, Stephen Asiimwe, said: “Uganda Tourism Board has invited several hosted buyers and travel journalists to participate in the Expo. So far, four regional boards have confirmed their participation.”
Exhibitors expected to attend the travel show include tour operators, travel agents, tourism boards, among other service providers in the travel and tourism industry.
