Acsa now reports that it has managed to increase the reserve of jet fuel to 4,5 days’ stock at Cape Town International Airport and says in a media release that it is now confident that flight movements will continue as per schedule.
The airport operator says it was advised on October 3 that the vessel carrying jet fuel had docked, and once tests have been successfully run, the jet fuel will be pumped into the refinery. It also says that there is very little flight disruption and, to date, only one airline has had to cancel its international flight.
Despite Acsa’s blandishments, Emirates has extended its schedule adjustment to Wednesday, October 5.
