Drifters Adventours, a Division of Tourvest Accommodation and Activities, offers several private, customised cycling tours each year, for both road and mountain bikes.
Christiaan Steyn, GM of Drifters Adventours, says the packages include meals and accommodation, as well as back-up during the tour. “Our safari trucks are the perfect vehicles for the job and carry spares and luggage along with a 20-bike trailer to safely transport the bikes.” Each tour is designed to the specific needs of the group, and they are therefore suitable for seasoned cyclists or beginners, with the routes and distances adjusted to suit the group.
A normal group ranges from 12 to 17 cyclists, but Steyn says it has accommodated groups of up to 32 riders on a tour. Previous itineraries include tours through the Garden Route, Lesotho, the Karoo, and the Drakensberg Mountains.
