A new tourism product, Tayana Adventure Village, is set to launch in April 2021 in the Dewedzo Hills, 140km south-east of Harare.
Founder and CEO, Fungai Mutseyekwa, said the village would use solar and biogas gas as energy sources.
“The topography and climate of its location resembles a hybrid of the Eastern Highlands and Matopos. A variety of activities – including expedition walks, wet and dry abseiling, various rope activities, quad biking, mountain biking and 4x4 obstacle challenge courses – will be on offer,” said Mutseyekwa, adding that the activities would be introduced in phases.
The main feature of the village is to offer guests the opportunity to become involved in the community by, for example, assisting in community building projects and interacting with them and learning their way of life in a respectful and sustainable manner, he said.
Mutseyekwa pointed out that most of the material – rocks, thatch and timber – used to construct the village was sourced from the surrounding area.
Accommodation for up to 160 people will be provided at the village.
