The sixth Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit & Challenge will be held in Windhoek, Namibia from May 28-31. Entries for the both the Summit and Challenge are still open.
For the Challenge, Africa Tourism Partners – in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism Namibia, UN Tourism and financial serves advisory, BDO – invites innovative African youth in travel and tourism looking for funding, partnership and mentorship opportunities to present their projects to the global market place.
The Challenge seeks and welcomes creative ideas and solutions that go beyond technology yet are relevant to the travel, tourism, and MICE industries, for assessment and judgement by a distinguished panel of industry executives.
The top five finalists of the Challenge will be showcased to industry leaders, mentors, and possible funders and/or partners during the Summit.
For the Summit, key focus areas will include but not limited to youth entrepreneurship, students’ immersion in innovation, small enterprise development, personal transformation, and self-actualisation.
Delegates at the Summit will connect with African and global tourism leaders, entrepreneurial innovators, and partner organisations from across Africa and rest of the world.

The Challenge timelines are as follows:
- Entries closing date: March 1.
- Adjudicators will shortlist top five: March 22.
- Shortlisted project promoters will be informed: March 29.
- Mentorship for elevator pitches (12 hours): April 10 until May 16.
- Submission of shortlisted project promoters: five-minute presentations.
- Top three announced: May 31.
- Competitor required to show a demo/Minimum Viable Product (five-minutes) during the presentation.
- Winners and Runners-up announcement: At ATLF Awards in Gaborone, Botswana in September.
