African Bush Camps’ Thorntree River Lodge outside Livingstone in Zambia, is upbeat about the outlook for 2021 following its recent reopening to local and international guests.
“Thorntree River Lodge ‘hunkered down’ during Zambia’s lockdown and reopened in December. We are looking at the 2021 and beyond peak seasons to provide us with good outcomes,” said CEO and Founder of African Bush Camps, Beks Ndlovu.
He told Tourism Update: “So far, in 2021, we have received a 20% increase in bookings for Thorntree River Lodge compared with what we saw in January 2019 for travel in 2019.”
Over the December period the company noticed a mix of source markets travelling to Zambia. “In December 2020, 67% of the bookings received were from internationals and 33% were from the SADC region. A consistent increase in local support has been evident,” said Ndlovu.
