Cape Town’s Camps Bay Drive will be closed from April 20 for a R20 million upgrade. Travellers should expect major traffic delays along the alternative routes to and from Camps Bay.
“This upgrade cannot be postponed any longer,” the City of Cape Town said of the road, which has not been refurbished for the past 30 years. “It will significantly improve the road condition and safety for road users.”
The upgrade is expected to be concluded by the end of September “if everything goes according to plan”. About 14 000 vehicles travel along the road every day.
Commuters can make use of Geneva Drive as an alternative route to enter or exit Camps Bay during this time.
The City will host an open day today (April 9), where officials will share information about the project and alternative routes and access. It takes place at Camps Bay High School, Seminar Hall between 15h00 and 18h00. Residents and interested parties are urged to attend.
