African Vision Malawi, a UK charity that helps Malawians to become self-sufficient by providing vocational and life skills training, will run a cycling tour of central and southern Malawi, exploring landscapes and discovering the charity’s programmes along the route.
The ‘Pedal Power’ tour will take place from Friday, May 10 until Tuesday, May 21.
“Joining this tour not only provides you with an exhilarating experience in Malawi, but your participation will directly support the most marginalised people in Malawi and give them a hand up out of poverty,” said Malawi Tourism.
The experience combines six cycling days and multiple off-days, with one on safari in which travellers will get the chance to see lions, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippos and birds in one of Malawi’s most iconic wildlife reserves, Liwonde National Park.
Another rest day will be spent at the Kumbali Lake Retreat, near Lake Malawi, where guests can feed Fish eagles.
Cyclists will also visit cave paintings in Dedza, the highest town in Malawi, followed by a cycle down a 31km escarpment, stopping at a waterfall.
The tour will conclude with a celebration meal with cultural entertainment and the chance to visit some of African Vision’s programmes.
