A new wellness resort, Kisawa Sanctuary, has launched on Benguerra Island, Mozambique.

The 14 bungalows, which include grouped bungalows, accommodate two people each and have their own beachfront, private infinity pool and day area, with an outdoor kitchen, cabana and a dedicated service team. Grouped bungalows feature larger swimming pools, decks and day areas.

The Main Terrace area is open plan and includes the Robata Counter, which serves lunch and dinner daily, a fireside library, lounge area, and wine cellar.

The Barraca restaurant, in one of the most secluded parts of the sanctuary, serves Mozambican dishes with south Indian flavours.

Colourful beach cafés offer seasonal dishes and a mobile Pizza Tuk Tuk is available.

Guests can also enjoy in-bungalow dining, picnics in the dunes overlooking the ocean and sundowners while sailing on a traditional Mozambican dhow.

Individual guest vehicles are on offer, which visitors can use themselves, ensuring privacy and independence.

The Natural Wellness Centre specialises in Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic therapies as well as massage, reiki, meditation and yoga. A Japanese Iyashi dome sauna uses gentle infrared heat and Pilates is available.

Kisawa Sanctuary is the first project of entrepreneur, creative director and philanthropist, Nina Flohr. Flohr has also recently launched Africa’s first permanent ocean observatory, the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies. Here visitors can accompany marine scientists on diving expeditions.

Following the April soft launch, the grand opening of Kisawa Sanctuary will take place in July.
