Blue Mountain Lodge, situated between Sabie and Hazy view, Mpumalanga, reopened last month, after being closed for six years. The lodge was acquired by Lefe Group from the Netherlands in November, 2016.

The lodge sleeps 30 guests. It comprises a manor house as well as, eight Victorian suites, four quadrant suites, and the Ballentine suite. The suites each accommodate two guests. The lodge’s Donovan Louw explains that the ballentine suite, otherwise known as the Presidential suite, is where Nelson Mandela used to stay during his visits to the area between 1992 and 2002.  Children under the age of 15 are restricted, except for the manor house. There is a restaurant on site, as well as a bar, which is open to all guests at the lodge.

The manor house comprises two en-suite bedrooms as well as a study, lounge, dining room and kitchen. A private chef and butler are all inclusive at the manor house, and a babysitter is available on request. While the house sleeps four guests, provisions can be made to accommodate more children if required.

The lodge is set on two hundred hectares of indigenous bush, forestry and farm land. The dam on the property is stocked with Black Bass, where guests can fish. Other activities include private massages, hiking, nature walks, bird watching, swimming and billiards.

 A stone chapel is also located on the property.
