Unprotected industrial action by employees of Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), which started on April 6, has ended. The MTPA and the Provincial Leadership of trade union, NEHAWU, signed an agreement today (April 21).
“We are pleased that, after numerous engagements with NEHAWU, we have finally managed to reach an agreement on a way forward. We are confident that the work currently under way by the Joint Task Team will be concluded and we will implement the agreement that we will be signing accordingly,” said Johannes Nobunga, CEO of MTPA.
He said all affected nature reserves were now open for business. “We apologise for the inconvenience that this closure has caused.”
The strike was started due to MTPA advertising certain senior posts while there were people acting in these posts. NEHAWU, said the posts should have been filled internally before they were advertised.
