New tented camp, The Wallow Lodge, will open in May in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
The lodge, which offers 16 double rooms, is in a private concession in Victoria Falls National Park, overlooking the Masuwe River.
Spokesperson for the lodge, Shane White, told Tourism Update that each room was on a private deck, constructed from recycled plastic and bamboo.
The rooms are air-conditioned, and have fans, a private river-facing deck, tea- and coffee-making facility, and a lounge area. The rooms are hidden among a canopy of trees and have indoor and outdoor showers.
Guests can enjoy a game drive that ends with a scenic sundowner overlooking the river, nature walks, river safaris, elephant encounters and a tour of the local village.
Head of the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe Matabeleland North Chapter, Anald Musonza, said this new offering showed the resilience of the local tourism operators and the continued confidence in Victoria Falls as an international tourism paradise of choice for many the world over.
“It gives us hope as an industry that such developments help create jobs, align our destination to the environment and also offer world-class facilities to our discerning travelers.”
