Tsogo Sun has made a number of new appointments to its hotels throughout Gauteng.
The SunSquare Montecasino has appointed Bernie Hilario as the new General Manager. She was previously General Manager at the Garden Court Hatfield and deputy general manager of Southern Sun Hyde Park from when the hotel first opened.
Joining Hilario at the SunSquare is new Deputy GM, Paul Gibson. He joins the team after moving across from the Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga where he was the Rooms Division Manager. Madeleine Roux will take over as GM of the Garden Court Hatfield.
Thabo Khumalo joins The Palazzo team as Restaurant Manager for Medeo. He started as a chef in the Famous Butcher’s Grill at Sun City and has worked at Southern Sun Bloemfontein, Southern Sun The Cullinan and Garden Court Eastgate. The Palazzo also welcomes Julian Joubert as the hotel’s new Room Division Manager. He completed his training at the Sandton Sun in 2007 then worked as the club floor Supervisor at the InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers.
Joel Stols has moved across from the SunSquare Montecasino, where he was deputy GM, to take on the role of GM for the Southern Sun The Ridge and StayEasy Emalahleni. He was previously deputy GM of the Riverside Sun and the Southern Sun Pretoria. Kaliq Essop has been appointed new GM of the InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers. Before moving to his new role, he was GM of SunSquare Montecasino and Jenda Restaurant.
Bafana Mlambo has been appointed Reservations Manager of The Blue Train effective November 1.
Mlambo has 12 years’ experience with the operating division, overseeing and facilitating the bookings and sales of The Blue Train.
When asked about the changes he plans on implementing in his new role, Mlambo said: “Since we have a new reservations team, we need to invest in their training because of the calibre of clientele we have. We need to focus thoroughly on product knowledge and instil offering the best service we can to all our guests, who unconsciously become our brand ambassadors.”
Two new executives have joined Cape Town Tourism.
Marketing Executive, Leigh Franks, has experience across European, African and domestic markets in various sectors, including tourism. “Innovating in the space where marketing and tourism merge will help translate the accolades of the Cape Town brand into tangible visitor numbers,” said Franks.
Tourism Services Executive, Thembi Kunene, has over 18 years’ experience in tourism. She has worked for Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), was the CEO of the Tourism Grading Council at South African Tourism and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Brand South Africa and Stenden University as a tourism expert.
