Executive Mayor of Cape Town Dan Plato has launched five foreign-language Destination Marketing booklets with Consuls General.
The destination marketing booklets have for the first time been translated into foreign languages, namely French, German, Mandarin, Portuguese and Spanish. The Executive Mayor and Mayco Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management, Alderman James Vos, launched the booklets as one of several international marketing tools aimed at building stronger tourism ties with these key markets.
“The brochures are a beautiful summary of what Cape Town has to offer and are perfect as a marketing tool for key international stakeholders and markets. These are key markets for tourism and investment and mean information about Cape Town – with the intention of drawing more people to live, work and study in our beautiful city – can now be easily shared,” said Plato.
“The destination marketing brochure is one of multiple innovative tools developed by my team in the Enterprise and Investment Department, of which our digital library of stock footage and images is a part. The latter is accessible free of charge to media, trade and industry. I am proud to say that this is a first for a city in South Africa,” said Vos.
Electronic versions of the booklets have been developed so that the consulates can share the information with their networks via websites and social media. The electronic version contains videos and photographs, as well as relevant information about why people should select Cape Town as a destination to live in, do business, study and for leisure.
Cape Town is the current holder of the World's Leading Festival and Events Destination and may receive the title again as voting for this award and two others – Table Mountain as a leading tourist attraction and Cape Town International Airport as world's leading airport – is under way and closes on October 20.”
