Studio 88 Aviation, in association with MGM Aviation and Flymargate.com, has launched flights to and from Margate, as of September 6.
At the recent Margate airport Indaba, Tertius Myburgh, md of Studio88 Aviation based at Lanseria airport, announced the launch of the new air service, which sees regular flights between Margate and Lanseria on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; flights between Margate and Mthatha on Tuesdays; and flights between Margate and East London on Thursdays.
Tertius went on to say that passenger volumes would determine whether additional flights would be necessary and that all stakeholders would focus on working together with business, the tourism industry and Hibiscus Coast Municipality to ensure a sustainable and quality service to and from Margate.
The new King Shaka international Airport, situated 170km from Margate on the North Coast, has meant added time and expense for those travelling to and from the South Coast. The introduction of a new air service for Margate will give travellers, particularly corporates, the opportunity to commute to and from Johannesburg for a day’s business.
