Rwandair has announced it will restart its flights from Kigali to Johannesburg (one a week direct, and two per week via Lusaka ) from May 7, and from Kigali to Cape Town (two per week, both via Harare) from May 14.
The airline had re-started its flights to South Africa in October 2020, but then suspended them again in February 2021.
Two of Rwandair’s Johannesburg return flights have fifth freedom rights to stop over and offload/collect passengers in Lusaka on the route between Kigali and Johannesburg. Both the Cape Town flights have the similar rights enabling the airline to offload/ collect passengers in Harare on the route between Kigali and Cape Town.
The schedule currently is:
Kigali – Johannesburg, from May 7
On Wednesday and Friday, WB102 departs KGL at 23h55, arrives LUN at 02h20 (+1). It departs LUN at 03h20 (+1) and arrives in JNB at 05h30 (+1). (The flights arrive in Johannesburg at 05h30 on Thursday and Saturday).
On Sunday, WB102 departs KGL at 22h35 and flies direct to JNB, arriving at 02h25.
Johannesburg - Kigali, from May 7
On Friday and Sunday, WB103 departs JNB at 0h30, arrives LUN at 02h30. It departs LUN at 03h30 and arrives KGL at 05h50.
On Monday, WB103 departs JNB at 03h10 and flies direct to KGL, arriving at 07h00.
Kigali – Cape Town, from May 14
On Friday and Sunday, WB110 departs Kigali at 08h00 and arrives HRE at 10h45. It departs HRE at 11h30 and arrives in CPT at 14h45.
Cape Town – Kigali, from May 14
On a Friday and Sunday, WB111 departs CPT 16h40 and arrives HRE at 18h55. It departs HRE at 19h50 and arrives KGL at 22h35.
