Renowned chef and restaurateur Luke Dale Roberts is bringing his culinary skills to Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa with new multi-course menus, wine pairings and curated cocktails expected to elevate safari cuisine.
New wine-pairing menus have already transformed boma dinners at the lodge. Local tradition, culture and cuisine have been introduced to the safari experience of dining around a camp fire under the African night sky.
Next to be introduced will be a harvest table lunch concept, followed by new breakfast menus, preparation and presentation of game drive snacks and sundowner drinks and cocktails.
Myrian Vogel, owner of Mhondoro, says it has always been a dream to collaborate with a top chef. “Seeing this dream come true with someone of the calibre of Luke Dale Roberts is incredibly fulfilling and we are very proud to bring our guests an outstanding new dining experience.”
Dale Roberts and his team will train Mhondoro’s current staff to further develop their skills and bring a new and exciting dining experience to their guests. “Their commitment to excellence and upskilling of staff, in addition to the sustainable development of farmland and an impressive organic vegetable garden, are truly inspiring. We look forward to working with the team and drawing from this garden to create menus that reflect the best of local and seasonal produce of this region,” he says about the collaboration.
The five-star lodge, situated in Limpopo’s Welgevonden Game Reserve, has its own organic eco-farm. CEO of Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa Fritz Breytenbach believes the organic produce sourced from the Mhondoro eco-farm sets the cuisine apart.
A special wine pairing dinner, hosted by Dale Roberts, will take place at the lodge on September 15. For R10 450 (€207), guests will be treated to a 24-hour gastronomic experience that includes dinner, an overnight stay, all meals and house drinks and two guided game drives.
