Sanctuary’s Stanley’s Camp, on a private concession within the Okavango Delta, is nearing the completion of its extensive refurbishment.
This month, the camp will be reborn with 10 brand-new luxury canvas tents. The accommodation has been crafted with sustainability in mind, and to evoke the days of explorer Henry Stanley, after whom the camp is named.
The classic-style tents have been significantly enlarged, with five-star fixtures. Each tent has a deck overlooking the floodplains and is fitted with mosquito nets.
The in-room experience has also been enhanced with the addition of a compact gym, yoga bag, a well-stocked minibar and coffee station.
The central tent is where guests can spend their evenings. Here, the new Explorer Lounge is modelled on a similar room at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp, inviting guests to discover more about the delta ahead of their explorations.
In addition, there is a new outdoor bar with panoramic views over the floodplains.
A new solar farm will generate 80% of the camp’s electricity.
