South African National Parks (SANParks) is introducing new gate technology at Table Mountain and West Coast National Parks, starting November 1. The new ticketing service aims to streamline access to the parks and key attractions.
Hapiloe Sello, SANParks Managing Executive: Tourism Development and Marketing, said visitors would now be able to purchase digital tickets online, prior to arrival at the gate. The tickets will then be scanned at the gate for quick access. This is important for tour operators who can now skip purchasing group tickets at SANParks’ offices and instead book online for their groups.
As of November 1, the conservation fees at Cape Point will be R303 (€19) for international tourists. At Boulders, the fee will be R152 (€9) for international visitors. The Table Mountain Cable Car will not be affected by changes to conservation fees.
Online bookings will open in mid-October, in time for the new system implementation on November 1. Tour operators will be able to book directly from SANParks’ website here.
SANParks will also host an open day in September, where tour operators will be able to view a demonstration of the online booking process and ask any questions. For more information and to book to attend a demonstration, contact Table Mountain National Park Hospitality Services Manager, Saskia Marlowe, at saskia.marlowe@sanparks.org.
