The South Africa Chapter of Site (Society of Incentive and Travel Executives) will be sponsoring a student in the meetings, events and incentives field in 2014, as well as monitoring and providing the student with an opportunity to gain practical experience at some of Site’s 65 members in SA. This is in line with the international Site organisation’s mission to invest in and cultivate leaders for the industry’s future.
Robin McLeod, Site’s SA Chapter Committee Member: CSR, says Site will raise funds this year to sponsor the student. “The trick is to find a course that covers the meetings, events and incentives field. There’s no one course that covers what we do. So, we’d rather find a student who has the right requirements in terms of personality and skills, and mould them. By the time they leave, they’re ready to be employed.”
Other Site SA Chapter projects for 2013 include its Meetings Africa exhibition stand, and speaker discussions and networking events.
