Taj Cape Town’s Mint restaurant will be receiving a makeover, with a new look and a revitalised menu in time for the summer season.
Mint, which spills out into St George’s Mall from the hotel, offers a host of all-day dining options for both hotel guests and visitors. The space is set to receive a two-phase makeover.
Phase one will see the dining room extended on to the Mall with the new Mint Terrace, offering comfortable couch seating, suspended umbrellas and a modern bistro-inspired feel.
The Mint Terrace will take on the concept of ‘inside, outside’, shaded by the Mall’s trees and highlighted by pops of colour.
Mint’s revitalisation is currently under way, with the Mint Terrace expected to be complete shortly and an opening event scheduled for September 18.
Phase two will see the restaurant’s interior invigorated with splashes of cool colour and chic décor to match the relaxed atmosphere of Mint Terrace.
The internationally inspired menu will feature a fresh new look, with Executive Chef, David Tilly and his team working to deliver an accessible, comfort food-driven offering. The menu will offer an additional pick-me-up for people working and visiting the city, with an array of Mediterranean, Indian and braai-inspired lunch buffet options between October and December. In addition, whisky, brandy, gin and canapé pairings, as well as oysters and bubbles will feature.
“Our menu at Mint is inspired by my travels to countries like France, Morocco and India – and, of course, South Africa,” says Tilly. “We’re working hard to offer our visitors novel twists on traditional bistro favourites and embracing the new Terrace area by bringing a distinct freshness to our menu.”
