Wag Hill Lodge and Spa on the southern shores of Lake Victoria in Tanzania, has reopened following renovations.
The eco-friendly lodge and spa is part of the Cinnamon Collection group and is about a 30-minute drive from Mwanza, the second largest city in Tanzania.
The lodge sits at the end of the peninsula, jutting out into the Mwanza Gulf, with over a kilometre of protected waterfront.
Accommodation includes seven signature tents facing the lake and five double cottages. The cottages are away from the main area, with some more remote than others. The Royal Sultan suite comprises four suites, sleeping up to eight guests.
The cottages are named after birds. Fish Eagle is a spacious bungalow with a queen bed and space for additional beds if required. The Great Heron is a two-bedroom house.
The tents are all fitted with double beds, air-conditioning and a balcony.
The Royal Villa has four suites and offers a large open-plan American kitchen, sitting room, living room with home theatre system and satellite, a dining room and private pool.
Other hotel facilities include a conference centre, spa, gift shop, fishing deck, bonfire area, a games room and children’s playground, as well as complimentary WiFi and babysitting services on request.
There is live cooking at the lodge, as well as water-based activities, fishing and paint ball, with meals served as a buffet inside or outside around the pool. Barbecues can be arranged in the evenings.
