Accor has signed its first hotel in Zimbabwe under the portfolio of Mantis Collection – Mbano Manor Hotel Victoria Falls by Mantis.
Founded, built and managed by Dr Matifadza Martha Nyazema, the Mbano Manor Hotel opened in 2020 and has 19 private luxury suites, including a presidential villa. It will be rebranded under the Mantis Collection by June.
Commenting on the Accor partnership, Nyazema said: “This is an exciting development for us, and for the tourism industry in Victoria Falls and Zimbabwe. Our hotel product and our team have been selected as ideal partners by an esteemed international hospitality chain. This means our guests will continue to benefit from local management and ownership while enjoying the added value of global hospitality and exceptional experiences.”
Mantis is known for its commitment to preserving its surrounding communities, wildlife and the environment. The Mbano Manor Hotel Victoria Falls by Mantis will operate in accordance with Accor's environmental and energy-efficiency reporting tools, internal carbon price monitoring, eco-certification programmes and brand standard sustainability criteria.
Paul Gardiner, CEO of Mantis Collection, said Accor and Mantis were delighted to establish a presence in Zimbabwe, particularly in Victoria Falls, home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world. “Particularly here at Mbano Manor Hotel, created by a remarkable woman and bold entrepreneur. We are honoured to be entrusted with supporting and continuing Doc Mati's dream of offering this one-of-a-kind hospitality experience.”
