A new luxury five-star safari lodge, Mambeti Camp, is expected to open in Liuwa Plain National Park, Zambia, early next year.
Owner, Norman Carr Safaris, says the construction of the camp, which began in February, is anticipated to be complete by March 2017.
Sales and Marketing Director, Mindy Roberts, said the new facility was on the upper Munde stream, a site chosen for its sweeping vistas and excellent wildlife viewing.
Mambeti Camp will comprise six luxury villas, including a two-bedroom and two-bathroom family villa, with the capacity to accommodate 15 guests.
The facility was designed by acclaimed lodge architects, Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, who are also responsible for the design of Norman Carr Safaris’ flagship camp, Chinzombo, in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park.
“The wildlife viewing in this part of Africa is quite extraordinary. It’s a completely stunning landscape and exceeds expectations of the most hardened safari goer,” said Roberts.
“Over the years African Parks has shown true dedication and commitment to the development of Liuwa Plain National Park,” she said.
African Parks CEO, Peter Fearnhead, said the organisation was proud to be driving a venture of this calibre in one of the most beautiful wilderness areas on the continent. Mukola area Chief, Induna Mundandwe, said it was an honour for the people of Liuwa that a lodge of this status was being developed. “I am proud to be part of this process of development that will unlock tourism potential,” he said.
Liuwa is home to famous lioness, Lady Liuwa and her pride, as well as the second biggest wildebeest migration in Africa.
Norman Carr’s old camp Matamanene will close to guests at the end of this year.
