Ernst-Jan ‘EJ’ Hiltemann has been appointed General Manager of African Pride Mount Grace Country Hotel & Spa in Magaliesburg. Hiltemann will replace Anton Meiring, who recently took up the reins at the Protea Hotel by Marriott OR Tambo.
Hiltemann studied at the ML Sultan Hotel School and at Switzerland’s Hotel Institute Montreux. He was previously Head of Operations for the Durban region of aha Hotels and Lodges.
“Being part of the world’s largest hotel group is certainly something I treasure, and I am sure I will have a stimulating and exciting time in my new role,” said Hiltemann.
Active Ventures Namibia is now responsible for marketing LEVANI Namibia Marketing. Owner of LEVANI Namibia Marketing, Leonie van Niekerk, will dedicate herself to her new business, LEVANI Kitchen and Deli.
Roberto de Carvalho has been appointed the new Executive Chef at Cape Town International Convention Centre.
De Carvalho joins the Cape Town ICC from the One & Only Cape Town where he was Resort Executive Chef for over three years. He holds qualifications in Professional Cookery from the Hospitality Industries Training Board, has a diploma in Professional Cookery from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and has a certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking from City and Guilds of London.
“We’re confident that his expertise in fine dining and running his own business will ensure the Cape Town ICC’s culinary offering is always in line with the latest cuisine trends,” said Julie-May Ellingson, CEO at the Cape Town ICC.
“I am excited and anxious all at the same time, but after more than 20 years in the culinary industry, this is a position that I would like to prove that I can do,” said De Carvalho.
