Kwandwe Private Game Reserve has transformed an old historic fort on the 22 000-hectare reserve into the Kwandwe Fort House, a modern, sole-use safari villa in a secluded setting overlooking the reserve.
The Fort House sleeps eight and has the look and feel of an exclusive safari lodge with all modern conveniences.
Guests enjoy total privacy, abundant space, the latest connection technology, and their own private guide and tracker to explore the reserve. They can relax on the terrace while watching wildlife wander to the nearby watering hole, lounge on the front lawn, swim in the pool, dine under the stars around a fire pit, explore the wine cellar, unwind in the study and enjoy a spa treatment.
Kwandwe has also introduced a new range of ‘Eco-nect’ activities for families. These include kite building, treasure hunts and scavenger quests that adults and older children can enjoy together.
Kwandwe’s voluntourism activities enable guests to play with and read to pre-school children in the local community, get involved in beading and doll making, or assist with making blankets. Guests can also enjoy the thrill of a Rhino Conservation Safari, which involves darting, notching and DNA sampling for conservation purposes.
A ‘Campfire Cooking’ experience is available at all three Kwandwe villas, where travellers can master the art of barbecuing while on safari.
At Ecca Lodge, three of the six units have been transformed into family suites that accommodate parents and two children up to age 16. Rates start from R25 700 per suite per night (€1 570), are full board and include meals, drinks, a kiddies’ menu and a private vehicle, ranger and tracker to take guests on animal sighting excursions.
