SAA has resumed its normal daily service between Johannesburg and New York, following the congestion at John F Kennedy International Airport due to severe weather.
The airline put the following measures in place:
- Allowing passengers to re-book flights in accordance with conditions set out by SAA’s re-accommodation policy. This means, date change by affected customers would not attract penalties.
- Allowing passengers to re-route their travel. This too, was at no cost to passengers who were able to travel to or from Washington DC.
Spokesperson Tlali Tlali said: “We also switched the aircraft that operated on the Johannesburg-Washington DC (IAD) route to one with greater capacity. This enabled us to carry more passengers (who were able to reroute) to and from both destinations and relieve the backlog.”
SAA advises customers to check the status of their flights on their website, social media platforms, or through their call centre.
